Lend
You give money to someone. Record Lend to increase what that person owes you.
From lending a friend money to borrowing for a shared purchase, keep a dated record for each person. Record Pay or Receive when money actually changes hands, and review the remaining balance without relying on memory.
A fictional explanation, not a saved transaction or product screenshot. Repayments happen outside Nivora and are then recorded in your ledger.
The People option in Add Transaction provides all four directions. Each updates the selected person's ledger and your chosen money account.
You give money to someone. Record Lend to increase what that person owes you.
Someone gives you money you owe back. Record Borrow to increase what you owe them.
You repay someone you borrowed from. Record Pay to reduce what you owe.
Someone repays money you lent. Record Receive to reduce what they owe you.
One balance means someone owes you; a negative balance means you owe them. Here are two separate illustrative person ledgers.
Examples use one person at a time and start with a zero balance. The signed values show how the person-ledger balance changes — not bank-transfer instructions.
Track lending between friends, family, customers or suppliers without connecting anyone's bank.
Add a People contact or select one you already have. Their ledger keeps previous entries together.
Choose Lend, Borrow, Pay or Receive, enter the amount and money account, then save the entry with an optional due date and notes.
See dated history and what remains owed. When someone pays you or you repay them, record that real movement rather than assuming it happened.
A balance is easier to trust when you can see how it changed, and share the record when you need to.
See Lend, Borrow, Pay and Receive records in each contact's ledger with dates, amounts and notes.
Set optional limits per person. Nivora warns when a new Lend or Borrow would exceed the configured threshold; it is a warning, not a blocked payment.
Include a due date on a People money entry for additional context when reviewing what is owed.
Print a person's ledger or create a temporary read-only statement link that you can share with the intended recipient.
Open WhatsApp or your device's SMS composer with a prefilled balance message. You review and send it yourself; it is not an automatically delivered message.
When a shared bill involves you, its relevant amount can appear in your People balance. Obligations between other people can remain only on the split itself.
Explore split expensesNivora records debts and repayments; it does not send money, collect debt, verify a cash handover or make another person confirm your entries. Due dates and credit/debit limits help you stay organized, but they are not automatic enforcement or a guarantee that someone will pay.
Use Pay when you repay someone you borrowed from. Use Receive when someone pays back money they borrowed from you. Both entries update the relevant People balance.
Yes. Record the amount actually paid or received. The remaining balance reflects the recorded entries; you don't have to mark the entire debt settled at once.
No. The People ledger can open a prefilled WhatsApp or SMS message, but you choose whether to send it. Do not assume another person has received a message.
Yes. You can print the ledger or create a temporary read-only statement link. Share it only with people who should see that financial history.
